Corbin Usinger

I strive to be a climber that just has fun out there. My brother and I started climbing trees at a young age. Not much has changed since then, except for the gear and objective. I never really felt the need to compete climbing on plastic and always thought the real thing was outside, on the great expanses of granite in the Sierra.
Free climbing became part of my life at a young age and I am grateful for the places it has taken me and the people it has put me in contact with. It also inspired me to slackline and rope jump. I walked my first highline in 2003 atop the rostrum, and instantly liked the concentrated adrenaline it inflicted. The mind over matter feeling helps my climbing style to stay calm and concentrate until the end.

Favorite kind of climbing: Big stuff- fast. long, rad and exposed free routes in yosemite, the needles, Toulmne Meadows, Tahoe and the east side of the Sierra. NIAD, Regular Route on half dome, Astroman, the Rostrum.
Climbing Inspiration: Any character I have met, that pushes me surfing or riding bikes- its all the same. My main climbing partner/brother Clay, and how we push our limits and have fun. My Dad, for showing my brother and I the Sierra at a young age. And of course, The Yosemite Monkeys that shape my climbing and slackline skills.
Favorite Solo: Regular route of Fairview dome in Toulomne and Matthies Crest
Music: Fu Manchu! Metallica, The Expendables, FIDDY, Gorillaz, Led Zeppelin, Dre, Snoop, PENNYWISE, Rage Against the Machine, Wolfmother
